Based out of Sandy Spring, Maryland, Cherry & Chisel is a small studio specializing in wooden furniture, accessories, and more. Created by three friends that met all the way back in elementary school, each member contributes their unique expertise to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
We specialize in custom furniture and architectural millwork, blending traditional techniques with modern design sensibilities. Every item undergoes a final shaping, sanding, and polishing phase done by hand. Whether you have a large-scale project or a smaller one in mind, we are here to collaborate with you every step of the way.
Our Approach
At Cherry & Chisel, we advocate for transparency in the design process, emphasizing the importance of understanding the true cost of production. The hidden costs associated with mass-produced items, including exploitation of human labor and environmental harm, often outweigh initial savings.

We aim to minimize or eliminate wood waste by utilizing every piece of material and creating products that last a lifetime. Some of our “limited waste” methods include:
Acquiring and working with local lumber yards
Utilizing reclaimed or up-cycled wood for projects, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste
Finding ways to repurpose sawdust and scraps, such as using them for fuel, mulch, or as a raw material for new products
Building furniture that lasts has a reducing effect on waste
Reducing the amount of packaging used for materials and tools
